    1881 Colt SAA Opinions Please....

Good afternoon forum. I have this 1881 Colt SAA that is not in very good condition but was wanting a little input from you experts on what direction to go with it. Keep as is in my collection or touch it up a bit. I would guess the value is lost in this condition. What I know >>> Black Powder .45 Colt, Cylinder stamped with # 5366, Wrong grips, screws replaced, barrel cut?, buffed, reblued, actually lock up is nice and tight with good timing.. Please do not hesitate on your opinions (Good and Bad) here as I received it as a gift. Thanks Gentlemen.

Cool gun. Since it's in good working order, don't tinker with it at all. Any money you'd invest in it would just ruin its existing character. Enjoy as is.

I don't think any cosmetic touch-ups would hurt the value.

Terry, thats a great looking gun! Personally, I'd leave as much patina as possible. Maybe some minor touch-up. Some period correct walnut grips would be an improvement too. I wouldnt shoot it but keep it as a cool early example thats been there, done that.

Thanks for your reply Cliff. I appreciate your input and believe that is what I will do in this case.
