    A Unique 4 Notch Hammer.

    The Things I See @@

    Oddly enough this hammer works!

Im hoping maybe Jim Martin will chime in as to why someone would do this.

I had to do a double-take, I’m on some pain medication and it took me a minute to realize what I was looking at.

Came out of a 1st Gen gun.

Definately give new meaning to 'four click'. When it comes to some of the beater SAA's I've picked up over the years nothing I've seen of Bubba's work surprises me anymore. If he could get it to work, he would, and leave the rest of us scratching our heads.

That is the only 4-notch hammer I have ever seen! Thanks for posting. The next question is, "Why not a five-notch hammer?"

Here's my guess. The loading notch was broken and the shade tree gunsmith just cut another notch above it.

A guy I worked with asked me to fix his RG 22 single action. I never seen such a mess. The notches were all stripped. The cylinder was aluminum with steel inserts. The aluminum had eroded away around the inserts on the face and the inserts were cracked. He had lost the cylinder pin and whittled out a stick to replace it. The grips were two crude slabs of wood held with a stove bolt.

That type hammer is for a three round burst.
It turns the SAA into a full auto revolver.

    saintclair,

Uh,.....a 5 notch?.........Would that be required to click/spell C-O-L-T-S..............Over the years, there has been a lot of ambiguity/inaccuracy with the Colt name..........

As we all know, Sam's last name was COLT....................NOT COLT'S

Oh, OK,...........I'm sorry, but this Iced Tea is GOOD!.............

Anyone realize the 3rd click is the bolt coming up in the lead in?

    You'd have a hammer with 6 clicks.
