What would you say are the best Colt Single Action 2nd Gen book/books to have as a guide and reference? I have the 1st Gen pretty well covered but would like to know much more about ALL THINGS 2nd Gen.

Don Wilkerson’s “The Post War Colt Single Action Revolver” and for less money George Garton’s “Colt’s SAA Post War Models"

Wilkerson's three editions of "The Post War Single Action Revolver" and his "Colt Single Action Revolver Handbook" are the best. The Handbook was published several years after the last edition of the former book and contains quite a lot of additional information.

I agree with Buckspen!! It is hard to beat Wilkerson's books. Of course, the latter versions have more information than did the earlier versions. You can tell that just by look at their thickness. The "Colt Single Action Revolver Handbook" was a great value since Wilkerson's older books always seem to be selling at a collector's premium.

Many on this forum have advised me to buy Wilkerson's Post war SAA book. I check Ebay often but haven't found a reasonable (cheap) copy as of yet. Anyone want to sell me theirs? I didn't think so. I really want the part that cover the 2nd gen nickel production numbers....

Get the "Handbook", I believe it has the information you want. It's $50 from Carol Wilkerson (see above).

I finally bought the Book from Mrs. Wilkerson.Sureis worth every penny. Everyone was correct it was exactly what I was looking for. Looks like Colt only made 13 Nickel Buntlines in 1961(mine is one of them) 8 with hard rubber grips & 5 with wood. So the wood grips could be original after all, who would of thunk it?
Now if only I could find the Kopec book at a reasonable price.

How did you get in touch with Mrs. Wilkerson? I have tried numerous sites on the web beginning with hers (Collectcolts.com) but the page showing the book has no link to order it nor any contact info.
