A fellow that is an hour or so from me has this gun for sale. Reblue- cylinder, hammer n trigger position all have me concerned. Any other obvious problems? Asking price $1,400. Thanks for any comments.
Appears to have a 2nd gen cylinder in it (?) I would pass. Unless you spent big bucks on a resto it will never be any more than a shooter and you can get a decent unmolested 3rd gen for around that price if you look.

That's a sub-$1k gun at best. I agree with the above...one can find a much better or even unmolested 3rd Gen SAA for about that money with some effort and patience.

Pass at this number. Get a better example. A new SAA is retail just under 1800. You can do much better with 1400. Always buy a gun with no excuses. There are several P1840 Colt on GB overpriced sitting. One call negotiating a reasonable sell number and you have a new perfect SAA. Good luck
Thanks for the replies. I'm OK on my 3rd gen values, and have enough of them already. I'm just not very good with 1st gen values. I think I will pass on the gun. I appreciate the help.
I would have bought it for $1400. And have paid more for less in 1st Gen. shooter grade guns

Someone here posted a pic of his 1 generation that he removed the re blue from the frame and the gun looked good. 38-40 is a good caliber if you reload to keep costs down. I would agree that the price isn’t out of line if the mechanics are good.
It is a matching number 1910 Colt. So smokeless is fine. How bad can it be? Weld up the hammer if required. Timing? Off to Jim Martin. Barrel and cylinder? Are they shootable? 2nd Gen cylinder? Not likely in 38-40. Looks to be original grips. Not a deep bushing/refinish. I'd be all over that gun for $1400.
