I've sent several revolvers to John over the years. I recommend doing so, and please post John's findings to this forum.
John A. Kopec
Has anyone ordered a Kopec letter? I have a Nettleton inspected S.A.A. I'm thinking about getting done.
Ditto "MRCVS" Have had about a dozen over the years and was glad I did it every time..especially when I went to sell the Cavs and the first question was always "do you have a Kopec letter"
I sent a old Henery Nettleton to Mr. Kopec back in January. He verified that it was authentic. I am happy that I have his letter. I also got a Colt letter for it. I think it is just as important. I posted the info here for all to see and I hope you do too. They are all such great old pistols!
I have sent three guns to him. A must have for any US Martial Colt.
This all started with one gun!

Mr. Kopec is a priceless resource to verify the authenticity of your martial Colt SAA revolver. Like others indicated, his letter of authentication is essential if you want to sell your gun and there are questions whether it is real or not, or has been tinkered with over the years. His letter will cost you a few bucks, but I'm sure you'll recoup the cost if you decide to sell your Colt. To me, the greatest value is the information he provides about the history of each gun and how they may have been used. You don't get this type of information from a Colt archive letter.
For those new to the forum, here is an example of a "Kopec Letter." It discusses an "Artillery" model Colt SAA in my collection.

Thank you all for your input. When time permits I will be getting a letter and will post results.
