    SAA prices

A few times a year someone posts about the difficulty of locating an SAA for an affordable price. In the last couple of weeks on Gunbroker a .45 and a .357 sold for $1285 and $1305 respectively. Both were blue and case hardened with 4.75" barrels. Neither were NIB but both were in nicer shape than some of my shooters. I would have been proud to own either one of them. If you want something with a pony on it, the deals are out there.

Timing has a lot to do with it. I’ve scored a couple nice Colts in the past year with strange ending auction times. Three weeks ago I got a nice dual cylinder 45 in nickel with a 4-3/4” in the box. I know people were watching but it ended at 1000 in the am here on the west coast on a Monday morning. A lot of people have to be other places and could easily miss something like this. I guess you really need to stick close to a computer or phone if you want to bid. As it turns out the gun was advertised as used but when I got it it was virtually unfired. Also the ad had very poor pictures.

The last Colt I bought was listed as an "SSA". I just stumbled across it. I bought a "Govermment Model" a few years ago. I'll be polite and say some folks type too fast.

Luck favors the prepared. To me, Being prepared for SAA buying is have the money ready to go and keeeeeep lookin’. One will turn up and may be sooner.. or it may take a while. I haven’t been trying to buy one lately.. matter of fact, Ive been hoping that nothing drops in my lap because I don’t need encouragement.

WWYS, I keep explaining to my wife that at the end of the day, it’s cheaper than gambling, strong drink, and fast women!

With that, it can't be fun. She should be all in!
