I really shouldn't like this SAA but I do a lot

While I always thought the Bat Masterson .45 was the best of the "Lawman Series", for some bizarre reason I really like the Pat Garrett Commemorative. Gaudy two tone finish, with very obvious mother of plastic grips, and in my least favorite barrel length, there's just something about it. That bottom picture from my dad's old G&A Annual helped get me hooked on SAAs.

The problem with those gold electro-plated guns is that if you fondle them much the gold plating wears off and they just look like rubbish. I'm not a fan of them either... even though I own a commemorative model with gold plating.

I've managed to make mine look less hideous though and it's a great shooter.

It's too bad that the gold platting can't be removed without a re-finish. I have a previous gold platted Colt SAA that most of the gold is gone. How that happen I don't know, there's maybe less than 10% of the gold left.DSCN0767.jpg It to had Mother of Plastic grips when I got it. It now wears Giraffe Bone grips and had to re-nickel the cylinder because when I shot it some of the nickel flew off.

I have never liked pinto guns. Just not my taste. I recall also my dad telling me the world would stop in one generation if we all loved the same woman and wouldn't settle for another.

I can see the attraction to that gun. Kinda like it myself.

But the neatest thing is the photo from the G&S Annual! The Navajo blanket, horse hair get down, Santa Ynez braided rawhide head stall, romel reins, Californio silver inlaid spurs and the Santa Barbara cheeks on the spade bit and the carved saddle silver are all stand outs

Bit and spurs alone are likely worth more than all four guns together are today.
