    1927 Serial number

Should a1927 1st Gen have the serial number stamped on the trigger guard below the frame stamp?

I don't think so. It is my understanding Colt stopped marking the serial number in this place in about 1919.

I’m sure this is a typo. The change was made in 1919.

Thanks for catching that. My mistake. Corrected it.

Both the TG and BS serial numbers should be under the grips, on the right side of the straps. These numbers are from a different stamp set than was used to number the frames. Thus they will be slightly smaller and will have a different appearance.

Thanks guys. My knowledge of 1st Gen variations is limited. I’m more familiar with 2nds and 3rds and searching the net with just your phone can be less than ideal at times.
