How much $, back in the day?

I've read in many places that a Colt SAA cost $17 in 1890 or so but how much more was a nickel finish? I was looking through my transaction records yesterday and noticed how quickly nickel guns sell. I've had 2 or 3 that only stayed mine for an hour or less. Prob'ly means I sold too cheap but didn't the old cowboys want that shiny new Colt and would have been willing to spend another buck or two for it? I know that Winchester charged a few dollars for an octagon barrel and they sold a bunch of them so how much more was nickel?

In the 1895 Montgomery Ward & Co. catalog a Winchester Model 1873 with round barrel was $10.94, and the same rifle with octagon barrel was $11.86.

The Colt Single Action Army was $12.00 either blue or nickel finish.
