Matt Dillon And The Real Long Branch Saloon

Arguably there is no more of an historic token than the Long Branch Saloon of Dodge City, Kansas. It was made nationally famous by the 20 year TV series “Gunsmoke” starring James Arness. But long before The Long Branch had established its own reputation in old west history. A Google search for this saloon brings up countless stories of shootings there and by participants that are well known to the Old West. Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, Clay Allison, Chas. E. Bassett, W. F. Petillon, Larry Deger, Frank McLain, Doc Holliday, Neil Brown, Luke Short, and Bill Tilghman were among other Shootists present in Dodge during the 1870's-80's.

    Beeson & Harris (B. & H.) operated this saloon during 1877-83.

Wm H. Harris and Chalk Beeson also owned the C.O.D. branded cattle. Thus, the C.O.D. brand was included on the Steer of their saloon token.
