Colt SA 3rd Generation Black Powder Frame Value?

I have the opportunity to by a NIB 3rd Generation Colt, one in the blue box, I'm guessing mid-2000 production...?

It immaculate, unfired, unturned, all paperwork black powder frame, 5 1/2" 45 Colt. Any general idea of what a good price would be?

    Thanks!

If someone really wants it $2300?? Of course the lower the better for the buyer. Colt is not making the BP Frames currently so I figured a small premium over the current retail was in order. I plan on posting more about mine once I have it in my hands. Then I am calling Jim Martin....
This one just sold on Gun Broker 852482203

I just discovered a SN S34200A that did NOT have the removable bushing,I’m only looking above 35000 now.

I agree with Super Dave. Depending on the competition for it, anything less than $2300 is a plus. Colt has been making a few more SAA’s lately , but it’s really hard to get one for less than $2K which is more than msrp. Supply and demand. The BP frame is something that many SAA fans tend to want to get ahold of and also like he said.. Colt won’t make you one right now
Local SAA’s are the most expensive ones I’m seeing lately, and the asking is more than 2300.
I’d nab that BP if I were you. Colt seems to be pushing the new revolvers leaning toward standard production. It’s a rare occasion for someone to post a custom shop gun that was from the last 10 years.

I reckon I’ve carried on long enough that it’s obvious I’d spend YOUR money.
    Good luck.

Thanks Sturmgewehr....will keep that in mind as I shop as well. Inconsistencies abound.

OP: $2300 is probably in range for the right buyer for reasons previously stated about lack of Colt production. However, should keep in mind that these frames generally only have higher demand from "collectors" or those that have a defined need, such as engraving or desiring aesthetically correct early SAA for Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS). Anything between $1850 and $2K would be low retail pricing in this area. $2100-$2300 average retail. Prices shared would not include out the door tax.

I can't disassemble the revolver to check the bushing. The serial number is S60XXX, didn't notice if there was a letter suffix.

Thanks for all the info guy.

What a serial number that high it should have the removable bushing. Be sure to post pics once you get the gun. Best wishes on your deal.

If you have a BP frame with the cylinder release screw DO NOT attempt to remove the cylinder if you ar3 not familiar with the process, don’t take a chance on doing harm to a nice SAA! Pretty sure you have the removable bushing, also. Pete

agreed with the consensus . That serial number is well into the removable bushing.
