Jim, the S&W model 19-5 could have been supplied with either of two types of factory grips, Or "stocks".
The target wrap-a-round type, or the service or "magna" style.
Both would have been checkered with the S&W medallions, and for a 19-5, neither would have the diamond pattern around the screw.

Not a rule, but the 6 inch almost always had "targets"; the 4 inch was "either-or", (but more likely targets) and the 2 1/2 inch was almost always magnas.

Mine is the 2 1/2” 19-5 with some very nice aftermarket wood checkered panels but not factory ones of course. I just hope to find a decent set of take offs not too beat up but correct fo a 19-5 2 1/2” correct grips.

Here are some pictures of the grip examples as I noted above.

15 S&W wrirrten list pic plus more to go 021.JPG 19-5 2 1/2 inch with original stocks.

    15 S&W wrirrten list pic plus more to go 027.JPG A model 19 4 inch, (actually a 19-3).

15 S&W wrirrten list pic plus more to go 055.JPG A 6 inch with targets..... (Never seen a 6 inch supplied with factory magnas, though I think some of the police had them issued that way).

Also two examples of the "diamond" grips I mentioned. One an N frame, the other a "J". But as I noted your 19-5 would not have been factory supplied with "diamond" grips.

Jim, in the earlier S&W revolver days, the grips were numbered to the gun, at least on one side, but by the time of the "dash 5" model 19,... started around 1981 through 1988, that was no longer the case.

Having said all that; (probably way more than you wanted to read), I have some grips that might work for you if you add a little more information about your "Combat Magnum", ((as they were designated by Smith)), and low prices and "karma" go hand in hand with forum members far as I'm concerned

Here is the gun with the aftermarket grips on it in the first posts and factory panels in the last 2 posts which is what I prefer.
