SOLD: 1960 Colt 1911 Government Commercial Model. Very Nice.

SOLD-Price-1135.00 Shipped to your FFL. Here is a very nice Colt 1911 45 ACP. There is 2 idem that is holding this piece of history from being all original. Number 1- Target sights. Number 2- and grips. This unit is very smooth action. The Bluing is very nice. It does have some handle marks and a small take down mark. The roll marks are nice and sharp on the slide and frame. Thanks for looking. any questions please ask.

Mac, It appears from the photos that there is a third item keeping it from being original. The barrel. I can see that the barrel says "45 Auto" and then there appears to be numbers stamped beneath that. It's certainly not a Colt OEM barrel. What kind of barrel is it? Thanks
    The reason I carry a .45 is, Colt Don't make a .46

That's a military contract replacement barrel. It might be made by Colt or it might not. You would have to disassemble it and look at the marks on the link lug. It's definitely a replacement. The original barrels were marked Colt .45 Auto on the hood and no where else and didn't include numbers. The military replacement barrels could have been made by Colt, Smith & Wesson and others. As far as I know they were used to refurbish guns that needed a new barrel, although there were also NM barrels that had a separate numbering system that were installed by AMTU, Springfield and Rock Island armorers in ilitary NM guns that were intended for hardball competition. Barrel and bushing kits were also sold to persons wanting to build competition guns...usually at camp perry. The point is it definitely didn't come out of Colt like that.
