Sold Pending Funds: This is the nicest example of a Remington 1858 New Model Army revolver that I have seen. It was purchased by the Ordnance Department during the US Civil War and was made in March of 1864. It is 44 caliber. It retains a large amount of its original polished blue finish. The bore is absolutely like new. Action, timing, are all perfect too. All of the stampings and roll marks are crisp as are all of the edges. Look at the edges of the barrel. All components have the correct military inspection stamps. The cylinder has turned gray but is in really nice condition. No pitting, etc. All of the nipples can be easily removed and are original. The original grips have dings and scratches but no cracks. The BH stamped on the left grip is the cartouche of Benjamin Hannis an Armory Sub-inspector who also inspected Allen & Wheelock, Colt Model 1860, Savage “Figure 8” and Starr Revolvers. Once the revolver passed inspection a cartouche was stamped on the grip indicating the revolver was accepted by the Ordnance Department. Loading lever is tight. The most wear to the finish is found on the right side of the gun where it was carried tucked between a belt and pants. Overall, it is a no-excuses example of a fine Civil War revolver. I'll take $1500.00 SHIPPED FREE via Priority Mail. The price is firm. Sorry but this one is all about condition. There just aren't any for sale that are 155 years old with this much original finish remaining. I can ship this directly to you (no FFL needed) in most cases. Will trade for certain Colt SAA's. Thanks!

NOTE: The gun fogged up on me while I was taking pictures outside and you will see fingerprints here and there.

Last price reduction to $1500.00 shipped before I list it on Gunbroker tomorrow. If you check closed auctions for these with this much original blueing that are martially marked and in the condition, they typically sell for over $3000.00. I'll leave this ad up for another 24 hours. Thanks!
