1.) Looking to sell my original Winchester ’92 in 44-40, 24”barrel manufactured in second month of production in 1892! It has a very earlyand perhaps unique S/N 1917. The rifle has great wood and except for a minording on the barrel and the re-stamping of the caliber to 44-40 (not sure whenor why this was done but the gun is a 44-40). Great old Winchester for yourcollection or shooting — these actions were very strong! Asking $1595 plusshipping, thank you for looking. JK Still available despite a ton of questions, thanks

Under the 44-40 it looks like it might have said 38 WCF which would be 38-40. Is it possibly a rebore? That could explain the stamping. The other parts would be the same.
The reason I carry a .45 is, Colt Don't make a .46
