    W.T.S. Marlin type 98 22?

Not exactly sure if this is a 97 or 39 Marlin 22. The condition as seen in the pictures is good. It has very very light pitting on the barrel. It has two very nice sights one on the front and one mounted on the stalk. The stock has a very small crack at the end near the butt plate where a very small part of the butt plate is missing. The rifle is over 100 years old and considered by some as one of the best and accurate of 22s. 900 + shipping ....I'll split.........Trades considered?*********ADDED PICTURES
    Thanks for looking,

Remove the tang sight. If it is a Model 1897 it will be marked on the top tang. Looks like a '97 to me. It was probably a special order gun with the pistol grip stock, the tang sight, folding front sight and octagonal barrel. The standard barrel length was 24" if I remember correctly with other lengths available for $2 per inch extra.

Area 51,...... Your input is appreciated. You are correct 24 inches.

added pictures requested.... The corner piece will never come loose. I used the best glue. I have the piece of the butt plate somewhere but not all of it.

    Thanks for looking,

What kind of sights are on it? Are they marked?
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit such crimes... such laws make things worse for the assualted and better for the assailants: they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man" Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria
