hi:
I'm a new memmber to the Colt Forum and a real beginner when it comes to pistols, so please bear with me:
My mother-in-law is in possession of a Colt pistol purchased by her Great Grandfather in Austria in 1860. After contacting the Colt office in Hartford, CT, we have learned the following:
Model: 1849 Colt Pocket Revolver
Serial # on frame: 280,000
Serial # on barrel: 70,182
Issued by factory: 1852
Inscription on Barrel: "Samuel Colt, New York, U.S. America"
Photos are available at http://www.amazon.ofoto.com/BrowsePhotos.jsp?&collid=787941080203
Any suggestions as to how to get an approximate valuation of this heirloom? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
