It looks to match all the criteria of Rapley’s (manufactured, not cast head, etc). It is an earlier type more often seen with Baby Dragoons & early 1850’s Pocket Models. He referred to it as the “eagle on hummock” style, and the one in the auction would appear to be by a maker named Matthewman, rather than an import, though Colt used both.

Thank you Sir! Sounds like it is a little early for my gun but, it sure looks good to me. I am trying to decide whether to buy it or not.

Thanks fellows. I ended up buying this one which I think is period correct for my gun. It doesnt have the Colt Patent on it but, I only gave $200.00 for it.
