This is the first time I ever seen the very early frame 1st Model Colt O.M. in an old ad. I think the next year the frame and cylinder rotation changed. Note that this hardware store only has .32-20 Bisley's in stock. The most common caliber to find now. I traded away my 1st Model O.M. a few months ago but quite a few of you here own this early version..

It is interesting that they also list 38 S&W Special for the 1877 Colt.

Neat ad. A while back I asked if the first Officer's Model was as hard to work on, as stiff trigger pull, and likely to get out of time as the other early Colt DA models that have the same action. A couple of collectors said no, it was a fine action and just as good. Yet, Colt abandoned that action, and the Army Special --> Officers Model --> Official Police --> Python became the action that Colt was known for.

Great ad and informative too. I like some of the old catalogues so I can see what was around at the time. I have a number of pretty decent ones.
