About 10 years ago, I purchased a Colt 1911 in San Antonio, Texas, portrayed to be a "Transitional Sample" gun for use in implementing desired changes for the 1911A1. The pistol I have is SNo. 60. I was also provided letters from two respected collectors of these type items along with an x-ray from a metallurgist for a local police department, which purportedly indicated the SNo.60 was not an over stamp of a previous stamp. I am seeking any wisdom or knowledge regarding such a piece.

Thanks, Sonny

I don't know of any transition guns with a 2 digit SN. All I've heard of are in the 700000-710000 range.

Maybe a letter from Colt?

Got Pics?
