hello all. I'm new here but I have come accross a 1911 1a in nearly 100% condition. It was made by Ithica Guns. I'm a LE offical in upstate NY and quite the history nut. If anyone can lend a hand with some history on my new find or helping me figure out what it's worth I would be forever greatful. Thank you...

Without pics and a serial number, we can't offer much help. Value is dependent in very large part on condition, and the serial number will pinpoint date of birth.

And by condition, I mean original condition with original parts.

The Serial number is 1240346. I have had a dealer and friend take a look at this weapon. It is all original, nothing altered or changed. I have been told that it is in great shape. I am working on some pictures. Thank you.

During WWII military requirements were met by production of M-1911 by several firearms manufacturers such as Ithica, Remington-Rand and Union Switch etc.

Here is a URL that says that one was selling for $2,000 back in May of 2005...
