I have a few Colt 1911s, and just noticed that my Gold Cup Trophy Model does not have the Rampant Colt anywhere on the pistol. All the others (except a Lew Horton Officer's Ultimate Model II ) have the Rampant Colt. Is this odd or common?

just looked at mine and it does not have it either, first time i noticed since you brought it up

You would think that because the "Rampant Colt" is Colt's trade mark it would be on all of their firearms ! What Gives ?

There are a few models that do not have it. Not many though.

The Gold Cups were actually made in Romania, and Colt couldn't use the rampant Colt logo on them.

Purchased 2 recent build Colt semi autos within a month of each other, 2012 build XSE LW Commander and the 2013 Gold Cup Trophy and the GCT is the only Colt I own that doesn't have the Rampant Colt anywhere on the firearm. I wonder what Colt's reason was to exclude that marking from that particular model. Certainly is an odd omission considering it's heritage.
