I have a chance to buy a US Navy 1911 that is all original. Serial number is 12,xxx. Gun is about 50-60%. Guy wants 6k for it. Think I oughta do it? Thanks

A us navy in the 12,xxx range only ran from 12,501 to 13,500. Hopefully everything is correct. I came across a 42 navy and the book listed it at 7500. I'm sure the others will join in and give you a value,but I'm sure they will want pics to make sure everything's correct.

You'd really want to make sure all the parts are 'right' for that Serial Number Range.

Can you post images of it in detail?

Assuming all the parts are correct and original, it is probably the high side of reasonable, IMHO.
