There is a lot more "story" there than there is gun. Why would anyone ever run an auction with a claim like that, and not show the letter of authenticity they claim exists? And then, if the letter actually exists, could it be authenticated?

It may have been left there for a purpose; an attempt to convince lookers that there's nothing fishy about the auction. Some will look and think anyone trying to boost value surely would have swapped the magazine. All it takes is two suckers for an auction to shoot into the stratosphere.
Looks like the pistol sold for $5000 plus the 20% premium...wow!
