I saw a couple of posts on Remington Rand 1911a1's. I am curious what some of you would have to say about this one, especially if you think the finish may be original. I believe it to be a 1943 model and all of the parts appear to be correct including the HS barrel and 2 General Shaver magazines. The slide appears to be a bit "darker" shade than the frame.

Your picture is sharp enough to enlarge at the crossed cannons, any you can see a little rust forming at the exposed metal. That's a good sign that the stamp cut through the original finish.

It should clean up with a q-tip and oil, after a short soak. Also get the slide serrations cleaned up a bit.

Otherwise looks great. And Scott likes it!
