I have a 1991A1 Commander w/matte finish. The DOB per a call to COLT is 1994.

My question -- is this a series 70 or 80??

I know later model 1991A1's w/matte finish had series 80 on the slide, this one only says "COLT M1991A1" on the left side and "COMMANDER MODEL" on the right side of the slide.

Can anyone out there help me find out an answer? My call to COLT only yeilded the DOB.

I believe your 1991A1 Commander Model is a Series 80.

I don't recall the Commander's ever saying Series 80 on the slide like the full size Gov't Model.

There's an easy way to tell.
If the gun is equipped with a firing pin lock, it's a Series 80.

If it isn't, it's a Series 70.
