I have a chance to buy a shooter grade 2 1/2 Diamondback 38 spl, it shoots fine and locksup with slight timing issue. Blueing it about 80% whats a good fair price to pay?..... thanks in advance.

Every person that responds to this will give you a different answer. All you can ask for is opinions. My opinion, I wouldn't pay over $600 based on the mechanics and finish you have mentioned.

I agree with bsmalley23. I think 600 is a fair price for described condition.

Make that 3. $600 is a fair price for the DS.
I just sold one on gb. Went for 950
I want to live where you guys do. I haven't seen a diamondback under 850 in a long time, in any barrel length and condition, even wearing goodyears
I recently purchased two D'Back shooters , 90% and 85% for $1,300 and $1,000 respectively. The 90% gun was tuned up by Colt within the last 90 days. The important wear on a shooter is the tightness of the lockup and condition of the land and grooves.
dam... i let it go for $800 should have bought it ,next time i'll listen to my gut feeling. Oh well
Here in Cali and shooter DB snubbie easily will bring $1200+. Problem is you can't bring any DB into the state yet, still a few years away for any C&R imports

I know this doesn't help your price question - just wanted to illustrate the pricing differences

You should always do what you want to do in these situations. As you can see the all over the board prices. If you were ok with the price you should have bought it, especially when buying a shooter. In the end its up to you and what makes you happy.

don't feel too bad. in the end the gun would have cost even more after having it tuned by colt or someone else. I don't know if colt will even work on DB's.

I picked up this 2 1/2 inch DB a couple years ago. I think I paid like $750.00 for it. It came with a very nice leather holster as well. The gun shoots great, timing and lock up are right on.

Colt will work on D'Backs. But you have to be patient, they have a backlog.
