Sweet python, at that price id have to have the original box included
The medallions are wrong color - should be Gold, so the stocks are not original (although I must admit I like the silver color best on nickel and sst guns).

Can't tell for sure what the year of manuf is by looking at the letter. If its E9X,XXX then its a 1975 and by then the sights were kept blue even on the nickel guns. If its E9,XXX then it a 1970 which I think was the transition year. My 1970 six inch has blue sights (but I've also seen 1970 guns with nickel sights).

For this much coin I would be very careful with this one based on the stocks alone!!
I know that seller. She's pretty legit. Little too much $ for no box
You know while the norm was gold colored I am betting a person who ordered such a piece could have custom ordered it with silver medallions. Not saying they are legit but you can never say never and Colt would pretty much do anything you asked. It is a shame so many of the letters do not specify stock configuration.....

I have owned several nib 2.5 inch nickel pythons with silver medallions over the past 20 years most I recall had nickel sights " early guns" I owned a 1966 2.5 inch nickel python that I bought from the original owner. The gun was dead new untouched and it had silver medallions and would bet the farm it came with silver medallions from day one. This is not to say some escaped colt with gold or silver. But I have owned enough examples I am confident that some nickel 2.5 inch guns did come with silver medallions. You can never pin down what colt did. Just an educated guess on my part. John

Thank you John for the history lesson. I know some later SST Pythons had silver, but I always thought early Pythons always had gold medallions. This is good to know.

Based on the postings above it appears that this gun could very well be original. I still wouldn't pay this kind of money without the complete package (ie: box), but I'm sure someone will and I hope they will be very happy with their new snake.

I learn something new about Pythons every day, and sometimes twice per day.
