If you are talking about the .45 Caliber, I know of no such problem on second generations revolvers. This problem was a New World Order institued by our friends at Ruger and followed by many.
Kid, sounds like a conspiracy that I am unaware of. Did Ruger people make claims about Colt SAA's.If you are talking about the .45 Caliber, I know of no such problem on second generations revolvers. This problem was a New World Order institued by our friends at Ruger and followed by many.
Kid ya nailed it. Never an issue or problem whatsoever. A terribly generated ploy but as always, when you are the lead dog (Colt) everyone wants to nip you in the ass.If you are talking about the .45 Caliber, I know of no such problem on second generations revolvers. ACTUALLY, THERE IS NO-NONE-NADA " oversized throat problem " in the third generation 45 caliber SAA or NF pistols. IT is NOT a problem to use the correct .454"OD bullets.Does anyone know if the oversized throat problem was prevalent in these second generation Colt SAA's? If so, at about what year of manufacture was this an issue??
Maybe that was ukind of me to blame Ruger...The problem or complaint of problem regarding Ruger Vaquero's in .45 Colt having oversized throats all began when a few of the .44-40's started having oversized barrels. Why ? because someone in CAS wanted to shove bigger than SAAMI standard bullets down the pipe. Then Gunsmiths or backyard mechanics started opening up throats on .45 cal's and .44 Cal.Kid, sounds like a conspiracy that I am unaware of. Did Ruger people make claims about Colt SAA's.
Speaking of throwing rocks @ the target I was shooting one of my Buntlines one day @ a guy next to me said "why load the gun you can just hit it w/the end of your bbl."Maybe that was ukind of me to blame Ruger...The problem or complaint of problem regarding Ruger Vaquero's in .45 Colt having oversized throats all began when a few of the .44-40's started having oversized barrels. Ruger was using the .44 Mag Barrel making tools for the .44-40. Frankly, I don't know if there is ever has been a problem with Colts throats. Though I have noticed diameters being reported larger than SAAMI standard, however I don't know who is doing the measuring or how.
I still see Smith's advertising to open up throats for their CAS Trigger Jobs to make the guns "race ready"...I don't claim to understand the reasoning, as the distance we shoot, if you can't hit the target with a small rock at arm's length, an Open Throat isn't going to make it any easier.
I suspect that some folks have sent their Colt SAA's to some of these Smith's to have their revolvers modified.![]()
