I've found myself in possession of a .357 Lawman MKIII with a 4" barrel from the 60's. I've got the urge to use it for whitetail hunting. In the area I hunt, I never have a shot over 30-40 yards. What are my options for mounting a scope on this gun?

Am I crazy?

For the Mark III Lawman, since it's a fixed sight model your options are:
Drill and tap the frame for whatever mount that can be found or made up.

Possibly find one of the old barrel-clamp type mounts that might fit the Lawman barrel profile.

A total custom mount that screws to the side of the frame or one that replaces one of the grips.

Best option is to drill and tap. Find a mount FIRST, if you can.
I'm assuming you could use a section of Picatinny rail, but the scope would be pretty high.

There are so many other handguns that are still being produced that would make more sense to drill and tap or to buy already drilled and tapped.
Don't alter a discontinued, possible collector's item.

That's what I was figuring. I don't want to drill and tap it. I thought there might be a way to do it without doing permanent damage that I hadn't found yet. I'll probably just stick with the iron sights or find something else to use.

Thanks for your input.
