From 1970 until the end of production in 1977, all Colt .22's were serial numbered in the same range.

3rd series Woodsman Sport
Got a 3rd series Woodsman Sport at a gunshow saturday along with a New Service revolver.
When I got home I looked up the serial number and found that the number is from the Huntsman/Targetsman serial range for 1977.
The gun is marked as a Woodsman and configured as a Woodsman. Or maybe my little pocket reference book isn`t completely accurate.
Serial # 312xxx-S.
My guess is that it was produced during a parts clean up at the very end when Colt discontinued all their good 22 autos.
Anyone got a better guess or better info.
