Did Colt produce a 44 special/44-40 convertible SAA?

Did they come in all of the various barrel lengths? I notice yours is a Storekeeper/Sheriff's Model?

I have one, 3rd gen, 4.75", nickel & ivory, full SN on each cylinder....I ordered it that way though, not sure if they were ever cataloged as such.

The convertible .44s were pretty common early in the third generation SAAs.

I thought the old standard diameter of 44/40 groove was .427 while the 44 Spl is .429. Guess 44/40 is now .429, huh?

Original 1st Gens. were all over map from 0.425" to 0.432".

OK that may be Colt. but the cartridge was Winchester's. I remember the reloading bullets were .427 for 44 WCF. .429 for S&W cartridges. Thanks for the info!
