I can't tell for sure from your pictures, but I don't think this is a 1911; it is more likely a "Government Model" and that should be marked on the frame above the serial number. Does the serial number start with the letter "W" by any chance?Does anyone have any information on this gem?
Could you post some closer images so it would be possible to see the details?The barrel is marked for .455

Oyeboten; The Round Lanyard Loop on the Receiver is not Colt so far as I know said:Oyeboten,
I was told that the hook on the British lanyards would not fit on the Colt loop. So, if the pistol was to be used with a British lanyard it required that additional welded loop.
