Here is a video of a Bright Stainless, 2-1/2" Colt Python that we just refinished here at Custom Shop, Inc. Check out the polish that we got on this baby! Crazy Gorgeous wouldn't you say? That's what we do here at Custom Shop!

Are there those that still think that refinishing a Python kills it's value ? I have argued for years around here that in many cases it enhances it's value. Are the die hard's still saying that because it did not come from the factory that way you have killed it's value ?

When you said 50K bright stainless Python, I thought you meant $50K which could only mean one thing, a 3" BSTS Wilkerson. I got excited for about 3 seconds. :)

As to refinish/restoration/alteration, my rule of thumb is the gun loses 50% of it's value when someone messes with it. Someone who wants a "pretty" gun for his man cave could definitely pay a lot of money for it, but to a collector, if it's not original, it worth a lot less.

If Colt did the refinish and you have kept the invoice with the guns serial number on it, you do not take near as big of a loss.

And, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Most are not die hard collectors.
