Fellow Python junkees: I'm looking at the Python in the current "for sale" on this site, as well as a very similar unit at a local gun shop here in Denver... I'm trying to decide between the two. I guess "when it rains, it pours" for me, as I've infrequently encountered this particular gun. Both are legit BSTS 6" guns from the 90's.

$2,300

Local gun is $2,400 but I can inspect it, touch it, and walk out of the store with it.

What is a ballpark value for a 90-95% gun without a box with correct grips? I suspect both of these guns are overpriced?? I have some blued Pythons, but I'm unsure of the market with the bright stainless guns. As always, thanks in advance for your expert advice...

I have a 6 " B STS in original box ser. T63XXX . I believe it is 1986 or 1987 production. I watch these on GB and haven't seen them under 3 grand ( not saying they're not out there) . I would much rather have a 6" royal blue . However, I've seen them listed as royal blue without it saying royal blue on the box . I have seen boxes that say royal blue , and if I trade for or buy one it HAS to be royal blue. I've seen numerous " royal blues " that look WAY better than others . I don't know if I could tell the difference without seeing two in person side by side . My first choice would be a 1968 , but it's not as important as having a genuine royal blue 6 inch.Any insight or advice would be GREATLY appreciated , from anyone ! Good luck with your search 68 GTO

All Pythons are finished in Royal Blue weather they say it or not.

The differences in appearance are attributed to the amount of Polishing that was done to the gun while in the white. Sometime in the mid 80s they really ramped up the polishing process which left the guns a beautiful very deep dark black. I refer to the late 80s and 90s Pythons as Black Mirrors. The earlier guns are much more Blue than Black. If you have a 60s gun that is Jet Black, it has been refinished.

The Bright Pythons were very Hotly contested about 8 weeks ago and the prices were nearly $3k without the box. After the hungry collectors left the scene the prices have fallen back to where they were before the run and are now in the ballpark of $2400-$2500 No box and higher for the Boxed version.

These are internet prices. Yes you may be able to walk into a LGS and buy a Bright Python for $1900 but don't let any of the internet savy customers see it before you otherwise it will be put on the "Sold" rack.

Just put my '68 next to my '88, what Marc describes as Blue vs. Black is quite striking ....
much more obvious in person, than in photos.

Thanks for the response Keystone , you have nice items on GB also . The black mirror is definitely what I want. When I see you have one, hopefully we can do business .

In the last while you couldn't find a mint BSS Python without a box from anyone on GB under $3,400 to $3,500. You still can't find a mint BSS Python on GB from anyone for $2,400. Not sure where that price is coming from!

You must be making an awfully good mark up on them than.
The great thing about capitalism is you don't need any ones permission for how much you can ask for your product. Then on the other hand, nobody has to pay your asking prices unless they choose to. This makes buying and selling fair for all. Everyone has the same shot. There is no magic power than allows some people to find good deals. Some people get up at daylight and get after it and some stay in bed til noon and wonder what day it is. Its all in what you want to accomplish. You make your own luck in this life.

Once again, the point I was making is I haven't seen a nice BSS Python on GB under $3,000 let alone $2,400 as Keystone stated whether private sale or otherwise. At this time the prices still appear to be up there.

Give up your life as you have know it thus far and dedicate yourself to hawking the newly listed Colts 24/7 365 days for the next year and you will eventually run into a bargain on a bsts python. But be prepared to be quick on the draw or all your time and patience of waiting and looking will be a failed effort. Or,, just go about your normal routine for the next year and pay retail and let somebody else be your birddog for a nominal fee. J.F.

Hey Keystone and/or Mr. Fugate, if you have access to an early 6 inch blue Python, I would be interested.. When I say early, I mean 1969 or older.. Doesn't need a box but want it all original and in nice condition...
