Dear Sirs,
We have recently acquired from our Great Aunt in the Philadelphia area, what appears to be a mid to late nineteenth century Colt Revolver. The only information we know about it to aid in the identification of it, is the patent number clearly labeled a number of times on the weapon. It states,
"COLTS PATENT 102931"
I've done some of my own searching to try and identify the weapon but only found some images which have convinced me of a vague period of time in which the weapon was made. Provided it is not an extravagant replica.
I'm a rare book collector so I have somewhat of a trained eye for authenticity and this appears to be genuine, but I do not have the expertise or the resources to identify it.
I would appreciate any help you could give.
Thanks,
John A. Shea
