a confusing trooper

It was my understanding that the Trooper in 1964 had a hammer mounted firing pin. And thanks to a previous discussion here, the stocks would have the medallions. Well, I'm holding this piece right now, looking at the box and the original sales slip dated 1/3/65, and I see a frame mounted firing pin and a pair of target stocks that are numbered to the gun in pencil on the inside. What do I have here?
And no, you won't be seeing any pictures. Still can't, still don't know anyone who can.

No confusion. After 1961 when the "357" was dropped and the .357 Magnum chambering was added to the Trooper line, the Trooper had a frame-mounted firing pin. I assume the Trooper you mention is a .357 Magnum, correct?

The pencil number inside the stocks is a puzzle. I have never seen any Colt with target stocks that has any such number.

Hey Texas! Here's an easy, non-hosted method, to post images on this forum.

If You have images in Your PC files, the tools on this site actually do the work for You.

When posting, scroll below and look to the far right of the dialogue box, then click on Go Advanced.

Next, below the dialogue box locate Additional Options, and click on Manage Attachments.

You will then view a box to the upper left; click on Add Files.

A smaller box inside the box to the left will appear and prompt You to Select Files.

Click on that, and select files from Your pictures, or documents folder, wherever they may be.

Next, be sure to click on open, when promted to do so.

The file should show inside that small box, within a box.

Now, click on Upload, then add text to Your post's Dialogue Box, (such as a description of the image), then click on Preview (to view image thumbnail), then click directly on Submit.

We'd love to view Your Colt..........Hope this helps!

ColtStar, that does help. However, I'm missing the key piece to this puzzle.... the camera.

Yes it's a .357 magnum. Maybe the pencil number was a personal thing by the owner to keep his stocks straight.
It doesn't really matter. The gun is way above average and I'm way above pleased.
Sounds like a cool gun! If you were near Bellingham I'd be glad to help you out with pictures.
