I was talking with a friend of mine last night and he asked me a question that I will post to the group.

His grandfather was a Maine State Wardens Service officer in the 1930's and early 40's. He, knowing that I am a accumulator of old colts asked if I know what the issue revolver was for them back then. So I ask you o learned ones any ideas?

He is thinking of trying to locate an nice example once he finds out what to get.

I originally told him if colt probably a NS but I have no idea. I am trying to get some era pictures of the boys in their uniforms to help us out.

Thanks in advance

They may well have used Private Purchase hand Guns, of whatever choice they liked.

And or ditto with Rifles, and the Hand Guns being secondary anyway.

I s'pose you could contact Maine's Fish & Game, and see if they have a Museum who's curator(s) might know? Or maybe if they have no Museum, they may have a Historian for their Department who would know.
