I first want to give A BIG THANKS to the Guns International Staff.
For years, I have been selling a few antique guns of various makes and vintages on GunsInternational.
Three weeks ago one Nadine contacted me through their site, saying "I'm interested in buying please let me know how much is gun including the shipment Thanks". The gun was a H. W. Mortimer (1753-1819) Flintlock pistol. I emailed back the total amount to send, with shipping, and recommended that it be sent by priority mail, with tracking number. BTW this Nadine had a NYC (Manhattan) phone number.
Nadine promised to send payment the next day.
One week later, no payment arrived. So I emailed to ask where it was. Nadine said the July 4 weekend may have slowed its delivery. Two weeks later, a cashier's check arrived as drawn on a Tulsa, OK bank. It was postmarked 4 days earlier -- So LIE #1! There was no return address, but in script was written "Tulsa".
I emailed again that the check had arrived, but "what is your mailing address"? "Is it in NYC or Tulsa"? The reply was "send it to Monica Garvin, Address 909 South Central avenue Paris Illinois 61944".
I quickly replied "I don't and won't ship to a third party. Who is actually buying this gun"? "Are you trying to avoid NY because they are so liberal that I might have to ship to an FFL there"?
Days went by. Then an email was received from Monica Gavin <monicagavin1000@yandex.com>.
I called the GunsInternational office in Florida, and gave all info to an agent there. He promised to review this case and call back. Three hours later he called to say that, among other suspicious things, "yandex" was a Russian company, with headquarters in Moscow.
So if you hear from Nadine, Beware!
