I am purchasing a shooter-grade SAA. 5 1/2" barrel, 1958 vintage. Appears all original. About 85% bluing condition, which is perfect for my intended use.

My first SAA. One has been on my gun-bucket list since 1990. My 75th birthday present to myself. I'll post some photos when I get it. I'm looking forward to shooting it!

I did not buy the one with a replacement barrel.

If anyone has a used field holster for it and want to sell it, please let me know. If no one does, Doc Barranti, or Von Ringler will make one for me.

It is a 45 Colt.

And, I'll look for a cylinder that can be converted to 45 ACP. Any advice? I believe that only a 1st or 2d generation will work. Probably a 38sp or 357 mag. calibers will be best?

Any Generation of cylinder will work - find one in any caliber and have it reamed and fitted.

Years ago, John Kopec offered this as an outright sale or swap - your two for a converted one - they just had to be in nice shape, not dinged up or damaged, then he sent them to 'Peacemaker Specialists' for the machine work.

The title made me think your wife was expecting... Instead your expecting hehe.. I waited a long time before I got my real Colt SAA. 30 years ago I had to settle for an Uberti. Well the kids are grown and out of the house and it was time to finally buy my cowboy guns.
I wish you luck with your new to you shooter. I look forward to seeing it and reading a range report.
