I don't think the Anschutz Weatherby XXII 22LR came along until 2010 some sixty years after Beretta made them? I think they made a 22LR @ $899 and 17HMR @ $949.

First Berreta, then between 1967 and 1971, some 17,000 Weatherby Mark XXIIs with detachable box magazines came from KTG. In 1972 Nikko Kodansha, another Japanese company began building the rifle. This company delivered both tubular and box-fed .22s until 1980 when O.F. Mossberg & Sons took over manufacture. The 1979 Mossberg contract called for 25,000 rifles at a price 30 percent lower than Nikko's. But problems with the Mossberg rifles delayed delivery, and many orders were canceled. In 1983, nearly five years after negotiations had begun, Weatherby and Mossberg agreed to cancel their agreement. Roy immediately contacted Howa. This Japanese factory had already proven to be a reliable source of Vanguard and Mark V rifles. Between 1984 and 1988 Howa supplied all Weatherby's .22 rifles. After that, Weatherby put its energy into centerfire rifles.

The CZ 452 American in 22 Magnum, 22 LR and 17 HMR pre-pandemic price of $400 each is a bargain and they are tack drivers.
Yes, the Anschutz bolt action was the “re-launch” of the Mark XXII in 2006/2007. It was strictly a bolt action, no semi like the Berettas, Nikko and Howa. I contacted Weatherby and they confirmed my serial number dates to 2009. I’ve read very good things about the CZ 452 and it’s now a pseudo Colt, right? 😉. I actually considered it but…. the stock is certainly not like the Mark XXii…

Sublimert - Love your new Mark XXII - they did a real justice to the older model in looks and accuracy! I do feel the pain in others in selling your Weatherby Mark XXIIs. I will keep mine for a bit longer. My Other favorite Bolt Action early 60s 22 is the Browning T-2 - bought in 1965 for $67 - a weeks salary then. Could not believe the wood when the dealer opened the box!
