Hi - I'm relatively new to the forum and definitely new to Colt SAA's. I'm hoping that some of you forum members can provide some advice about this unusual set of consecutive S/N Colt/Talo "Last Cow Boy 1 0f 300" edition that I quite accidentally acquired. I purchased the 'standard' Colt/Talo 'Last Cow Boy etc" around Feb this year - S/N LCB175. About a month later, at a completely different gun store, I purchased a Colt SAA, brand new, which had been sent to Turnbull for CCH and re-blueing. When I registered the gun I noticed that the S/N was LCB176, not the standard Colt numbers so I enquired from the owner of the LGS what the story was. He told me that he bought this SASA from the Talo rep ( Bob ) and that Talo had sent it out to Turnbull for those modifications. I then called Turnbull and they informed me that a gentleman named Bob ( they wouldn't five me his last name ) had sent them the gun to CCH and Blue. SO far the story checked so I then contacted Talo direct and received an email from 'Bob" as follow - "David, My name is BobTALO had all the Colt The Last Cowboys color cased. I believe what you have is the only one (176) we sent to Turnbull for a comparison. The 175 consecutive was color cased by another vendor. See if you can tell the difference. all from the 1/300 lot"

My question is, does this make the set more desirable/valuable? I believe that consecutive S/N's are more sought after but as this set has a 'story' and is not just 2 identical SAA's How would this affect the value, if at all?

I've attached photos of the guns: 1st is the 'standard' Colt/Talo "Last Cow Boy", 2nd is the Colt/Talo/Turnbull LCB176, 3rd are both together and last is their respective boxes. Any help/info/advice any of you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Dave

Consecutive numbers out of a 300 gun run is not that special...plus you have 2 different animals now...but nice guns
The case colors of every Last Cowboy I've examined was very weak to say the least so IMO the Turnbull half of your set is definitely more valuable.
The Turnbull gun has vivid case colors and also appears to be carbona blued with a color case hammer. While the other is hot salt blued and I can't tell how the hammer is finished (or not). Don't hang me but the case colors look more like one of the chemical finishes than Colt's usual colors. I'm not a collector but the Turnbull gun would be more valuable to me as well.
I agree with others. The Turnbull SAA is the better of the two.
What those guys said.

Just because it’s a TALO special run doesn’t mean it’s something to put away for the grandkids to dust off with hopes of cashing in on the purchase.
The TALO Guns, for the most part, are fairly affordable and offer a nice starting point.

A respected member on here had a 6 1/2 inch 44 S&W/Russian that was all blue engraved beautifully.
Another had the 6 1/2” barrel cut to 4 3/4.

The case colors on these LCB Guns out of the box are not representative of the current Colt CC.
I would ask TALO for further clarification, was #176 sent to Turnbull in the white and recieved the Turnbull finish as the original finish, or was it sent to Turnbull already finished like the others and then refinished? I would also ask if #176 has hot salt blue or charcoal blue.
Who did the CC on the one with the gold bands Ruger? Or did Uberti build that one. That's got to be one of the worse CC by Colt. Maybe you should send it to Turnbull. Don't misunderstand I'm not to offend you, the Turnbull colt is much better and worth more to me.

If I am not mistaken, I believe the Cowboy version of the Colt SAA did not get/have the same quality of fit/finish as the regular run of the Colt SAA, i.e., much less money to buy. Given that, you still have two nice looking Colts - the Turnbull being, by far, the better of the two. I don't believe your consecutively numbered guns, in this case, adds any value - you have two different and unique guns. If it were me, I would have 175 sent to Turnbull and made to match 176. Also, at the same time I would send along 176 for the matching example and have an action job done on both at the same time - they probably will need it. Keep us up to date - you have an interesting dilemma - one most of would love to have!

While I agree with the sentiment, the pic of the box endflaps
show these are SAA's and not Colt Cowboys.

Good Luck!

They are the Colt/Talo edition "The Last Cow Boy 1 of 300" from 2017 not the older Colt "Cowboy". These are both SAA's.
Last Cowboy. Not “Colt Cowboy”

See photo for those confused.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for their advice/opinions. After considering all your inputs I decided to get rid of the Colt/Talo #175 gun. Traded it today for a new Colt Gold Cup Trophy .45 ACP. Now I'll start searching around for Colt SAA 5-1/2" if I can find one at a decent price. Thanks again to all!
