I simply want to wish all an enjoyable Memorial Day to all. At the same time we need to remember what the day is all about…to commemorate and mourn those whose who have gone before us and gave all to secure our liberties we enjoy.
This profound photo and is a tear jerker that gets the point across about what Memorial Day is all
My best to all…I cannot put in words how affecting this photo is.
Remembrance first, a joyful weekend and remembrance last. I've always felt it's almost as much the fine thoughts hastening the faithful departed as anything else.
I'll be a little late visiting Arlington National Cemetery this Memorial Day, but every Memorial Day, I am especially sad to think of my Uncle, Private George Earl Marcel (aka Boozie), who died in 1944 while serving in Burma. During bi-annual trips to ANC to honor my relatives (Boozie, Grandfather Cook Santon Marcel, Brother Specialist 4 Louis E. Marcel, Wife Lieutenant Colonel Marjory M. Marcel, Father SSG Louis S. Marcel who is at a nearby cemetery) and friends, when visiting Boozie I ponder that he never had the chance to come home and enjoy the wonderful post-WWII life in America. Never had a chance to fall in love with a delightful lady; never had the chance to father children; never had the chance for a rewarding career; never had the chance to share war stories with his fellow veterans; and never had the opportunity to live the American Dream.
