Always loved that bit - anyone else catch them reference Ryan Gosling's character doing the same thing in 'The Nice Guys' a few years back, set during the same era 'Rockford...' was on? It was a S&W in the movie IIRC but I still thought the 'in-joke' was kinda a nice nod to old Jim Rockford.Yep. Jim Rockford. Great series early on especially. He kept his Detective Special hidden in his cookie jar!
Aside from wielding the pistol he'd have taken from the various-nefarious...🤫 my only real memory of his own gun is when it went from cookie-jar to 1970's leisure-slacks waistband... and back.😄This is why I love Detective Specials and have bought a bunch over the last 45 years. I still carry one at times. Love Colt Pythons, Diamondbacks and Detective Specials.

One of the writing gems of the series was the oft-quoted rate and then his expenses and the continual commentary on money and costs. It added a generally under appreciated realism to the series. If I had it to do all over again that would be me, trailer by beach, gold Firebird, 200 dollars a day plus expenses (adjusted for inflation of course)
That ROCKS!Luv them J Turns
The story line was he received a pardon from the governor. Supposedly, he was wrongfully convicted.I seem to recall his character was an ex-con was why he had to keep his gat stashed. Or am I remembering that wrong?
Had to do my first angry-face thing for this one.😃Let's not forget his good buddy Angel
James Garner stared in the mid-60s movie: "Grand Prix"He always drove the car and did his own stunts. He was a great driver. Later in the series, he limped all the time because his knees were bad from so many injuries. Whenever he ran, you could see him limping and protecting one bad knee. Neat actor!
