I wish I could help.

I built my own about 5-6 years ago. At the beginning of the year I sold it to my best friend in TX. I couldn't afford the darn ACOG that is calibrated for the 20" bbl. rifle!

Just spoke with Scott at Colt's customer service. They are planning a limited production in Q4 2013 with more coming next year.

I hope what the Colt rep stated actually happens end of this year, or they will miss their 50th anniversary of their first M16 sold to the US military.

Colt did not have a close enough clone of their M16A2 so I made it myself with all Colt parts, I got a new never issued USGI M16A2 upper half, found a stripped take-off Match Target HBAR lower receiver from my local gun store, then I ordered a lower parts kit and new take-off M16A2 fixed buttstock kit, I like the way it handles better than my former A2 HBAR rifle.

But I need an AR15A4 so I could use optics, my eyes are not as good now as when I was younger shooting my previous SP1, Sporter II, and A2 HBAR rifles with iron sights.

Gosh, you sound like me. I did virtually the same thing, new Colt Match Target lower, new condition A2 Colt 20" bbl., Colt flat top upper, and a lightly used Knights RAS and vert. pistol grip. I already had a few A2 buttstocks, A2 handguards (which I didn't use) and pistol grips to choose from. As I mentioned I realized I could no longer afford the correct ACOG after I retired and I couldn't think of anything I wanted to sell to buy the scope. That's why I sold it to my friend in TX.

I'm very lucky. I'm a little past 60 and I have to use reading glasses but my vision has been tested at 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other and I can still manage the iron sights - for now.
