Looks like what I will term the "3rd type"of E/I frame Target Stocks-that someone,clever with wood,has added a center diamond to-and then refinished??

Checked my 1995 Sile catalog,to see if this type was shown-NOT. This is when Colt & Sile had a "connection".

No familiar with the "offerings of the Colt Custom Shop",to know if this was done there.

IMO,the diamond is just too big!

The first grips look like a set of Third type someone sanded the checkering off, then re-checkered with the large diamond.

Notice the top border of the checkering is slanted more, and the checkering area appears to larger than factory.
Also notice the more coarse checkering than factory.

The second grips appear to be factory Custom Shop with either a real Custom Shop scrimshaw disk or it's after-market.

The grips themselves do look like Custom Shop, and they do have the Custom Shop medallions.

These days it's getting harder and harder to tell about this stuff.

i belive the "wheel" nailed it. tried to post but couldnt sign in yesterday. the custom shop made a simular ebony stock for the 1911 with that ivory inlay disc sometime in the 80`s
