I'm eyeballing an Army Special. Right now, it's overpriced at $300, but I expect the price to drop after Christmas if I do not act to interested in it. I was checking on prices in two different price guides, and one says this pistol was produced in .38special, the other one does not list .38special as one of the calibers for this gun. The particular revolver in question has .38 on the barrel, right after the Army Special mark.

Can anyone tell me with any certainty what caliber this revolver is?

Hi XavierBreath,

The marking you listed is for a .38 Special model. The primary chambering in the Army Special Model was .38 Special. The other calibers, .41 Colt & .32 WCF (.32-20) were produced in smaller quanities than the .38. Hope that helps. Bob Best

I'll say it's overpriced. I bought one a year or two ago for $300, and it's 95% original with mint bore and chambers, mech. excellent with no rotational play whatsoever at lockup.
Mine's a garden variety .38 Special made in 1912.
