When a 1911A1 was reworked and parkerized by Springfield Armory did the Armory also refinish (parkerize) the magazine? Thanks.

If the magazines were still serviceable they were refinished in phosphate and reissued. Same with barrels.

Thanks Johnny, that is what I wanted to know. I bought a 1944 RR with the Springfield Armory stamp on the right side of the frame. The barrel (high standard) and the magazines (one "S" and the other unmarked) are both parked. It was suggested I put a blue magazine in it. I didn't want to do that if the magazines were correct. Regards.
The refinished magazine would be perfectly correct for a SA rebuild.

This is an early Scovill pin base magazine that has been through rebuild. On this one the tempering of the upper part of the magazine produced a two tone effect from the sandblasting not being as rough as on the bottom.

Thanks again. The "S" mag with this RR is welded base which if I understand what I am reading dates it from mid 1943 to end of War. That would be correct with the 1944 production date of the RR. Regards, keith
Your 1944 Remington-Rand rework would've been done well after the war, during the Clean and Repair Program, so pretty much any contract-marked parkerized magazine should work equally well.

We still had those magazines in wrap, in the Arms Room - up until the .45s were turned in for M9s - sitting right alongside the ones that were NSN-marked on the baseplates.
The RR came with a Korean War belt and pouches and the seller said it was carried during the Korean War so what you say too, fits. Thanks
