Keeping in mind that you get two guns, that may be one of the bargins of that auction.

How does an auction house acquire so many high quality (expensive) items?
I have a fairly large bid that I placed a couple of weeks ago on these. Seeing what they have done as of late it is likely I may get knocked out.

"Fairly large" usually doesn't get it done at the big auctions Tom. You usually have to crossover into "insanity" to win!

I am sure that you are right on this Marc. Sometimes I've bid high but never into insanity. One thing that I have figured out is that there is always another gun that will come up. If not I get to keep looking and that can be half of the fun anyway. If I win them no Tulsa this year. If I don't then I get to go. Either way I am going to have a great time. And fortunately as of late the Colt gods have really been smiling on me.
HEY!!! A first 100 set comes out from under somebody's bed. I didn't know these were up but I'll keep an eye on them. Lumberjack I'm still broke from BOA 5/6 so good luck on getting them. I did just post in the photo section the set I just bought today. Number 238/239. Really nice guns but grips have a few dings so ill need to get on that. 133/134 are NOT in the correct case and ill bet finding the origin will be harder than finding the guns
I'm figuring the case will be impossible to find. I had number 55 and 56 a couple of years ago with the correct green lined case. I was on a mission to pay off my house so I sold several things those being one of them. I got a whopping $9800! Can you say STUPID!!! I think I would've been ahead paying the 4% percent interest.

Are you specifically looking for another factory set?

What ballpark would they be in now?

A good economy and crazies with DEEP pockets? Double plus the $9800 probably I'd say. It would take that plus to get one of mine anyway and I was offered a Stupid price for 69/70 a few months back. Some things just aren't forsale all the time. I'm anxious to see what the auction does this time of year. If it's low it's just because a ton of folks don't know about it
Yes a factory set is all that interest me. Anything outside of the cased first 100 has never interested me. Kind of silly but I'm a purist.

I'm with ya on that my freind but for some strange ass reason if it looks, walks, talks or has boa in the name it attracts me. Hopefully you'll snag them up
I'm starting to see more single Boas priced in the $5-6k range and what's more amazing is that some are actually selling. With only 100 matched sets available, don't be surprised if a matched pair hits the 15k mark, or even higher, depending on the testosterone surges....)

Passed!! A NIB Consecuttive set with numbers above 200 will fetch 15K at most any given time. Numbers 200 and below? Well it's just basically what kind of price the buyer and seller can come to terms on
I am glad that threads like this pop up to remind myself that I am poor and give me more motivation to get out there and work

LOL Rob,you and me both my freind. I'm turning over rocks ever day I breathe looking for these babies and it pays off. Talking with a guy about buying a single right now at a more than fair price in today's market. Bad thing is I always have to move something to aquire another
I lost the bid by $1250. 15 minutes later a good friend of mine calls me and says you're never going to believe what I won! What a small world the Colt world.

Is mismatched bluing between sideplate and frame a common feature of the Boas?
