Here is a pix of labels on red interior boxes for Pythons from the 67-69 period. Both claim to be legit. Typeface seems slightly different, but main difference I see is the caliber designation. When did Colt put 357 over 38 instead of 357 only.

comparing apples to oranges here with 4" and 6" Entire box, top, bottom, inside will be more telling, can you post picture?
Comparing large apple with smaller apple. Labels should be the same except for bbl. length.

They both look real to me.

The early Python labels had just the 357 notation. Some time in the early 60's (I'm not sure the year) they added the .38 notation too. I have original boxes from the late 50's with just the 357 and then some from the mid 60's with both calibers.

My COLT 357 model box from 1960 has both caliber designations so it must have been started by 1960( but apple/orange) :rolleyes:but maybe not on Pythons.
